Lockdown: Day 50 something! I’m a rule breaker...

I asked my 16 and 12-year old daughters if they wanted to see the bright blue light in the ocean. I told them we wouldn’t leave until 10pm and wouldn’t get home until 2am, as this is the best time to see this unusual occurrence as the tide goes out. The blue light is created by phytoplankton through a process called bioluminescence. They were excited not only because they love the ocean, but they felt they were breaking the rules by going to the beach that is closed during this Covid-19 time. Also, they would get to stay out late, and escape from home confinement!
I invited our neighbors and suggested that my friend Jayme bring his video camera to document the event, while I would photograph it.
"He and I were so happy to be doing what we love and capturing the beauty. We were safe, wore our masks and stayed more than 6 feet from our fellow man."
My daughter asked me if she could go for a swim, in the Pacific, at night. Without hesitation, I said yes! She’s a surfer and plays water polo and watching her have fun in the environment she loves made me so happy. We all had a magical time.
